The Program
Vung Tau is a resort town in the province of Ba Ria 125 km from Saigon. The town is a long strip approximately 14 km long and 6 km wide. Where the southern tip of town meets the ocean stand two famous mountains Nui Lon and Nui Nho.
This program in Vietnam starts on any date of your choice throughout the year. The volunteering is from Monday to Friday with the weekend off to explore Vung Tau. You can join the program from 1 week up to 48 weeks.
The Project
The project where you will do your volunteers work is a children shelter project in Vung Tau. The project is located in the city center and near the beach. This project has about 60 children (boys and girls) aging from a few days to 16 years old. Half of the children are disabled with the down syndrome, blind, deaf and other disability problem. Half of the children are not disabled.
Volunteer Activities
Taking Care of Children : Volunteers offer valuable support and education to the children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. You will offer support to the children whilst being a positive role model for the children. You can also become involved in a variety of activities including outdoor activities, helping with their homework and playing with the children.
Teaching English : One of the volunteer activities is teaching English. The level of English of the children is mostly basic to lower intermediate so no teaching experience is required.
No volunteer or teaching experience is needed. The main requirements needed are flexibility, enthusiasm and a willingness to help.
Accommodation
The hotel where you will be staying is only a few minutes walk to the project or to the beach.
Program Requirements
The minimum age for joining the program is 17. There are no specific qualifications needed to join the program in Vietnam . However, volunteers are expected to be flexible and patient as well as possess a passion and love for children.
Fees
The fees for this program are the same as for the Ho Chi Minh program AND you can combine both programs with the only extra transport charge of 50 US$. So if you book a 4 week program for example and you want to do 2 weeks in Ho Chi Minh City and 2 weeks in Vung Tau then you pay just one program price for 4 weeks plus a transport charge of 50 US$ (to take you from Ho Chi Minh City to Vung Tau).
