Volunteer in ThailandVolunteer Program in Ayutthaya
With our Volunteer Program in Ayutthaya, Thailand you can do volunteer English teaching in Ayutthaya. Ayuthaya is the former capital of Thailand and one of the most important UNESCO's World Heritage sites of Thailand located 70 km north of Bangkok. The city became Thailand's capitol in the mid-14th century and remained the capitol until the late 18th century. You can start on any date from 1 week up to 12 weeks. You will be picked up from the airport in Bangkok.
In Asia, it has been a focus among the students for their future career to learn English. But in most of the schools in Asia, English is taught by local teachers who may not be able to speak English Those who speak also not original English, you need to correct the pronunciation of many words. You have to assess the level of English first before you start teaching, then you can make your mind what to teach and from which level to start. Teaching is, therefore, very flexible and simple. You will be teaching practical conversational English using your own skill or talent e.g. by telling story, playing games, performing drama etc. The supervisor at school assigned helps to develop the lessons. You will work 5-6 hours a day during weekdays (Monday to Friday) between 8 am and 4 pm. There are also Temple Schools available which are located inside Buddhist Monasteries which provide education to the children of surrounding villages. Click here for an example of a project where volunteers teach English at a Temple School
Client Testimonials “The school and all the teachers were very welcoming and the children have been fantastic.”
Volunteers/internees are encouraged to bring some teaching materials with them; simple reading books, a grammar resource book and a picture dictionary will be helpful. Also, any photos (family, friends, home town), postcards, magazines from home will be useful for your conversation There are two home bases available for the volunteers. See a picture below of the home base. The houses have air conditioning, western toilets, a kitchen with fridge and microwave. Volunteers will need to share a room with another one or two persons.
