The Program

Our volunteer program in India is a great experience with different projects available in New Delhi and Rajastan. At the beginning of the program you will be picked up from the airport in New Delhi and you will be taken to your project destination. After that you will be introduced to your projects to start your volunteering.

All meals and accommodation are included in the program. We offer great flexibility to our volunteers. Our volunteer program in India starts on any date of your choice throughout the year. You can join the program from 1 week up to 12 weeks.

 

Accommodation and Meals

All meals are included in the program. There are 3 meals per day. For accommodation you will stay in a homestay, at the project or in a hostel depending on the project.


Program Location

Very few countries can compete with India when it comes to diversity. Whether we are talking land formation, religion or spirituality, India surely ranks one of the highest in the world. Volunteering is a unique way to discover the country, its culture and people whilst doing a meaningful job.

There are two locations available : New Delhi and Jaipur in Rajastan.

New Delhi, the capital and the third largest city of India is a fusion of the ancient and the modern. The capital city, Delhi, unwinds a picture rich with culture, architecture and human diversity, deep in history, monuments, museums, galleries and gardens.

Jaipur, the capital of Rajastan known as “pink city” is a part of Golden triangle (Delhi-Jaipur-Agra). This is also renowned for the land of Rajputs, a group warriors controlled this part since the medieval periods. This is truly exotic and colorful land. The city consists of forts and palaces, making one of the best destinations to explore in India.

 

 

 

 

 

The Projects

We have different projects available in India:

Orphanage
The Orphanage is an NGO that has been working for the welfare of orphans, deaf and slum children for many years. The orphanage offers rooms, food, and education. Currently it hosts 25 small children aged 5 to 10. There are 4 staff members to care of them. The project is located 25 KM South of New Delhi in a beautiful setting.

Orphanage
This is another orphanage, it is an NGO that has been working for the welfare of orphans, deprived children and street children for more than 7 years. Currently it hosts 30 small disadvantaged children aged 5 to 16, and 4 staff members to care of them. The orphanage is located 20 KM south of Delhi in a beautiful rural setting. It also runs a school for street children and poor children. volunteers can also learn about these children and also you can teach these children. The orphanage offers rooms, food, and education for the children at the orphanage.

Trust School in New Delhi 
This is a school for poor and deprived children. It has around 200 students. It has been working for the welfare of children for more than 10 years. The school is located 20 KM south of Delhi in a beautiful rural setting.

Ambulance Project in New Delhi
There are 2 kinds of ambulance programs available.
Eye Ambulance: Here our volunteers and optometrists go to different rural areas daily. Their main target is to find old aged people who have cataracts and bring them back to the hospital for free surgery. Volunteers have the opportunity to assist in checking their vision as well as observing consultations with the optometrists. It requires no prior knowledge.
General Ambulance: Here our volunteers accompany a doctor and pharmacists go to specific areas and provide medical care and medicines at very low cost. Volunteers have the opportunity to observe and assist the doctor in general examinations and the pharmacist in dispensing medication.

Women Project in New Delhi
The Women Project: is a women empowerment and micro finance project. It also runs a school for autistic children at the same compound. This project is located in Faridabad, Delhi NCR.

Charitable School in New Delhi
The Charitable School is a school for poor, street and deprived children. It has around 200 students. It has been working for the welfare of children for more than 7 years.The school is located 20 KM south from Central Delhi, place called Gurgaon in a beautiful setting. 10km away from Indira Gabdhi International Airport.

Orphanage in Jaipur, Rajastan
This orphanage is an NGO that has been working for the welfare Indian deprived communities in Jaipur since last 10 years. Some of its projects HIV/AIDS awareness, dental hygiene camps, and so on. Currently it hosts 47 small children aged 5 to 14, and 6 staff members to care of them. The orphanage is located 30 KM north of Jaipur in a beautiful rural setting.

HIV/Aids Project in Jaipur, Rajastan
This is an NGO that has been working for the welfare Indian deprived communities in Jaipur since last 10 years. Some of its projects are HIV/AIDS awareness, dental hygiene camps, and orphanage home and women project.

 

Program Requirements

The minimum age for joining the program is 18. There are no specific qualifications needed to join the volunteer program in India . Volunteers are expected to be flexible and patient as well as possess a passion for helping others.

 

Volunteer Activities

These are the different volunteer activities that are available.

1. Working at an orphanage
Though India has been surpassing its development goals, poverty still remains a serious problem, mostly affecting the kids in the rural areas / poor families / disadvantaged sections. Luckily, efforts have been made by different social organizations to protect these children, by providing them safe and secure home environment, food, clothing and most importantly education. As a volunteer, you will share your time, energy and skills to support these Children and show them the path for a better tomorrow.

Volunteer’s Activities:
* Teaching English to the children making small groups
* Helping in cleanliness
* Teaching sanitation
* Helping in food distribution
* Playing with and caring for children.
* Teaching drawing or paintings
* Teaching rhymes and songs
* Helping with homework

2. Teaching English
These are children who are socially and economically backward, disadvantaged, abandoned, destitute, physically challenged, and normal children at ordinary schools, special schools, residential schools and rehabilitation centers. In India, English is still required for better job opportunities. This is why volunteers are required to this field.

3. Women Empowerment
Women development project aims to empower rural women and women in distress and through them the entire family, so that they are healthy, economically above the poverty line, and able to analyze their own situation, and use their knowledge to make changes when necessary.

* Teaching English to the children and women
* Teaching sanitation's and awareness activities
* Teaching drawing or paintings
* Helping in stitching, and other administrative activities

4. Health Project
Many volunteers before starting their medical education or while studying, they want to come here and practice under doctors’ supervision. We provide you the opportunity for those volunteers. On the other many rural areas lag hospitals and doctors, our volunteers go to these areas with a team of doctors and do health check up and distribute medicines on the spot.

* Helping patients
* Distribution of medicines
* Checking up patients, blood pressure, etc
* Learning about the different diseases

5. HIV AIDS project
HIV/Aids is one of the major problems in India. Lacks of awareness, many people are being suffered in India. Many people like drivers, prostitution working have no idea about contagion. People suffering from it are often neglected from the society. We work in HIV/Aids clinics and shelters in India. We basically work for awareness, and caring of the victims.

Volunteer’s Activities
* Helping doctors and nurse
* Awareness of contraceptives
* Distribution of medicines, teaching how to use condoms to be safe.
* Taking care of HIV/Aids Victim Children
* Teaching HIV/Aids children; English and homework.
* Counseling prostitution and drivers to do HIV/Aids test, etc.

6. Internship in India
This internship program is for international students in areas such as orphanages, teaching in schools, organic farming, working with the special children and working at hospitals and HIV/Aids, Journalism, Etc.

Under the internship program, the intern is engaged in the day to day activities and exposed to departments of the unit. The interns are assigned a certain task by the project in-charge and the intern has to make and produce a report, for which they will be certified by the organization. The intern will also have a choice to choose a particular area of interest by working closely with project's person in-charge /staff.

Generally, a professional / staff of this project would serves as a supervisor/person in-charge for the intern. As an intern, you will stay with a host family or at hostel - near the project/institution. The director / person in-charge of the project will assist you successfully complete your report.
