Join the WLS Volunteer Program in Chiangmai, Thailand for a wonderful experience! The volunteering program in Chiang Mai offers volunteer projects such as teaching English, working at an orphanage, taking care of children, building necessary facilities and volunteering with hilltribe people.
Our program will give you a chance to make an important contribution to the people of Thailand, and to gain an in depth experience of the country and its culture that will stay with you the rest of your life!
Chiang Mai is a city with a beautiful cultural personality of its own. The people themselves are an unforgettable part of Chiang Mai. Chiang Mai is the largest and most culturally significant city in northern Thailand and is the capital of Chiang Mai Province. It is located some 700 km north of Bangkok, among some of the highest mountains in the country.
Program Details
With our Volunteer Program in Chiangmai you can start on any date throughout the year. You can join the program from 1 week up to 12 weeks.
You will be met at the airport of Chiangmai There are daily flights from Bangkok to Chiangmai at very low prices with airlines such as Air Asia. There are also several daily buses from Bangkok to Chiangmai every day. At the end of your program we will drop you off at the airport for your onward travel.
You will stay in a single room in a guesthouse, at the project or in a homestay depending on your project.

Volunteer Activities
One of the volunteer activities is teaching English. Our volunteers have done great work teaching at our different projects and have made a great impact to the children's lives. The level of English of the children is mostly basic to lower intermediate so no teaching experience is required.
We also have volunteer activities such as cooking, teaching music and building necessary facilities in hilltribe villages. You can focus on one activity such as teaching or do a combination such as teaching for one week followed by building a new facility such as a school building in the hilltribe villages. Just let us know your preferences.
Teaching experience or previous volunteer experience is not needed. The main requirements needed for volunteering are flexibility, enthusiasm and a willingness to help.
Schedule
Every program of every volunteer is tailor made! We will make your individual schedule based upon your skills, qualification and the preferences and the needs of the projects.
We also organize tailor made group volunteering such as building classrooms, toilets, canteens and other necessary facilities in hilltribe villages, contact us for more details.
On the first day of your program you will receive an orientation from your Coordinator. Your program will start with a city tour of Chiangmai with your coordinator.
Example Volunteer schedule
Day 1
Airport pick up by our coordinator at Chiang Mai airport and check in at your guesthouse followed orientation with your coordinator. Visit the famous Chiang Mai Night Bazaar in the evening with your coordinator |
Day 2
Sightseeing in and around Chiang Mai with your coordinator in the morning. In the afternoon transport to your project to teach English at the Orphanage. Your coordinator will help you to get to know the project and to get you up and running at the project. You will be given a mobile phone so you can contact your coordinator when you have any question |
Day 3 - 6
Volunteer at the orphanage teaching English |

Free time to do some sightseeing |
Day 8 to 13
Time to start the second part of your program building a school building at the hilltribe village. Transport to the village in the morning with your coordinator. You will stay with the villagers and work side by side with them building the necessary facilities |
Day 14
Pick up by your coordinator and transport to the airport for your onwards travel |
