The Program

Our projects in Cambodia are based in Siem Reap which is the gateway town to the world famous heritage of the Angkor temples. Siem Reap has frequent flights from Phnom Penh, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City.

At the beginning of the program you will be picked up from the airport in Siem Reap and on the first day of your program you will receive an orientation from the WLS Coordinator in Siem Reap. After that you will be introduced to your projects to start your volunteering.

Your individual program will be organized based upon your preferences, skills & areas of interest and the needs of the projects. You will be placed in 2 to 3 projects which will enable you to have a great volunteering experience. If you only want to work in one project then that is fine, just let us know.

We offer great flexibility to our volunteers. Our volunteer program in Cambodia starts on any date of your choice throughout the year. You can join the program from 1 week up to 24 weeks.

Volunteer Activities

There is a lot of help needed in Cambodia! Volunteers can be involved in teaching English. Education is very important especially with Cambodia developing there is a a lot of education needed. And with most people still poor many children do not have the opportunity to get an education, especially for orphaned and the poor children.

Our volunteers have done great work teaching at our different projects and have made a great impact to the children's lives. No teaching experience is needed. The level of English of the children is mostly basic. The main requirements needed are flexibility, enthusiasm and a willingness to help.

You can also teach special skills that you might have such as art or music. You can also assist in taking care of the children, playing with the children and helping out where needed.

Make a Difference!

WLS International has sponsored different projects in Siem Reap. We have bought water filters for different projects. We enabled for a project to start a vegetable & mushroom farm to help to grow their own food and create their own income. We bought 40 desks for a project, these are used throughout the day by all students during their classes. We sponsored an essential water tank building projects at one project. We sponsor 2 local English teachers who teach at the orphanages and projects. These local teachers also support our volunteers in organizing the classes and helping with the translation.

I had such an amazing time volunteering in Cambodia. It is an experience that I will never forget. Teaching English with the children was unbelievable, they are so happy and so eager to learn and very smart. Doing a program like this you really gain such an insight into the true culture of Cambodia and its people. This was truly a life changing experience, which I cannot wait to do again. Thank you WLS.
